Waste Management
Skip Waste Management
Waste management is the biggest thing we deal with. All those skips that go out, get filled up and collected by us, the contents of those have to be dealt with appropriately, safely and in compliance with all laws and regulations. The first thing we have to do is empty the skip and check for anything that shouldn’t be there. Often, people throw out things they aren’t aware of, they didn’t realise was a restricted item, or for any other number of reasons, so we need to carefully check through everything to ensure that it’s all safe and correct.
Next, we need to separate it all out, which means putting everything into the correct category, so it can either be properly and safely disposed of to the appropriate location, or recycled to be used again.
Skip Waste Collection
When you’re ready to have your skip collected, it’s important that you make sure the waste is level with, or below the sides. As safety is of paramount importance, we can’t have anything unstable or able to fall out and potentially hit people or vehicles. We’ll also put a strong covering over the skip to make sure this doesn’t happen, which is securely strapped on so it can’t move or come loose.
Once this is done, we’ll hook the chains from the lorry onto the sides of the skip, then slowly and carefully, whilst everyone is clear of the area, lift it up onto the back of the lorry, all ready to be taken back to our yard for inspection and processing.
Skip Waste Recycling
Recycling is probably the biggest buzz word in the entire rubbish and waste industry, and for good reason. Recycling is great for the environment, not only does it cut down on the amount of plastic in use, and the amount of plastic litter, it also helps keep lanfill site from filling up as fast as they would do if we didn’t recycle. With that being said, the vast majority of recyclable waste still goes to landfill, for many reasons, but we work hard to ensure that everything that can be recycled, does get recycled.
Did you know, the UK saves over 2 million tonnes of cardboard packaging from landfill every year, giving us the coveted crown as the global leader. For such a small country, that’s pretty impressive.
Skip Waste Disposal
All the waste that can’t be recycled, unfortunately has to go to landfill. It’s sad, but until humans come up with a better alternative, this is the only one we have. Landfill sites are typically in remote areas to help avoid pollution and contamination, as well as those pesky bad smells!
At the end of the day, we go to great lengths to ensure that all the waste and rubbish we collect, is processed in the most environmentally, eficient, safe and compliant way possible, which ensures we can carry on offering the community of Rosyth and the surrounding areas with a top notch professional skip hire service, for many more years to come.
